Configuring Internet Explorer - and to work on the ETP

The internet explorer browser is one of the oldest. Despite the huge number of analogues at the present time, it is still popular among users.

The creator of the internet explorer browser is Microsoft, so it is installed by default with the Windows operating system. However, for IE to work stably, it needs to be configured, and it is imperative to monitor the updates of the plugins used and new software versions.

Knowing how to configure the internet explorer browser will help you get rid of problems that arise after the action of viruses, such as automatically turning on offline mode or blocking activex elements.

Basic browser settings

In order to enter the internet explorer browser settings, you need to click on the gear in the upper left corner of the screen or use the key combination “ALT + X”.

In the window that appears, select the "Browser Properties" item. Many people confuse this section of the menu with "Configure Add-ons." However, add-ons are browser-related functions and plugins, and this section is also worthy of attention.

Common parameters

The general settings tab allows you to select the pages from which you want to start working. In addition, it is possible to select the display of individual tabs and the parameters of their behavior.

You can change the appearance of the internet explorer browser beyond recognition by setting up style characteristics that are convenient for you. To do this, you can choose:

  • Colors,
  • Fonts
  • Decor.

You should be careful with the design settings, since each web page has its own style, and it may not be suitable for you or may not display correctly.

It’s important to remember that “General Settings” allows you to delete temporary and offline files, as well as to clear log entries. You can often hear the words from the technical support service or system administrator: “try to clear the cookies”. This operation is performed from here.

Security options

Few people are setting up browser security. And very in vain. The configuration is quite flexible, and since most applications use internet explorer to open pages, it can protect your computer from viruses.

If you do not want to delve into the full setting, which can be accessed by clicking the “Other” button, you can enable one of the security levels that are clogged into the system and have their own settings: low, medium and high.

By controlling the parameters that are in the security settings, you can control many important page display criteria for the user, such as:

  • Pop-up Blocker
  • authentication on the page and saving authorization data,
  • management of all kinds of activex elements,
  • display of video, animation and requests of a certain type.

If you are not sure whether to enable this or that setting, be careful. Disabling some activex options may cause problems with displaying page elements or block them altogether. Pay particular attention to:

  • permission to run and download unsigned items,
  • Automatically launch controls and record permissions for them
  • enable offline mode.

Privacy tab

Internet explorer privacy settings allow you to control the access of websites to your data and to the processing of requests. It is possible to enable one of the levels or set the settings manually, controlling every smallest part of the tolerance, and also block it altogether. In the advanced settings, it is possible to control the processing of cookies.

In site management, you can prioritize the display of elements and assign access levels to each of the resources. In addition, there is a convenient setting that allows you to block or allow pop-up ads, which sometimes is simply impossible to get rid of in another way. Carefully change the privacy settings, otherwise you may accidentally prohibit the exchange of data with the site completely and get offline mode.

Connection options

This setting allows you to:

  • enable and configure automatic connection when opening internet explorer browser,
  • edit the list of network connections,
  • create a tunnel VPN connection,
  • run the "Network Setup Wizard",
  • configure a proxy server or automatic configuration script.

If you have a suspicion that a virus has entered your computer, or when you open any page, you see a message about an error processing the proxy server, you should go to the “network settings” tab (the incorrect port or address of the proxy server may block access to any sites).

A tunnel connection is created to securely transfer data between two points. Also, this type of connection is used by some providers to provide Internet access using PPTP and L2TP protocols.

Content Tab

The setting for displaying site content by keyword criteria is set in "Family Safety". A fairly convenient feature for setting parental control, which allows you to block unwanted resources.

In addition, the content includes the display of RSS feeds, the configuration and connection of certificates, as well as the inclusion of the auto-complete function.

Program tab

Used to select the html editor, the client for working with mail, the default browser for opening sites, as well as the "Manage add-ons" mentioned earlier.

In this window, you can edit launched extensions, applications, spellcheckers and accelerators. Managing add-ons is very important, because it is with their help that you can turn the browser into a great tool for a web designer or optimizer and analytics.

At the same time, virus programs that block all or part of the work on the global network most often fall here. The malicious code that has got here can disable activex elements, enable redirection to other pages or offline mode, and also block access to social networks.

Additional tab

Settings that are not included in any of the main parameters, but which are of the same importance are in the "Advanced" tab. In addition, from here you can make a full reset of internet explorer, returning to the default settings when installing the program. However, resetting does not always help turn off offline mode and restore browser functionality.

Offline mode and other problems

One of the problematic parameters is activex. Thanks to this element, most applications and scripts on web pages are launched. Therefore, if you have filtering turned on or acceptance of this element is disabled, you may encounter display problems.

If the version of your internet explorer is lower than 11, you may encounter a problem with working offline. In order to disable offline mode, you must go to the file menu and uncheck.

If you are using the modern version, you won’t find enabling or disabling this option. If you have a question about disabling it, then most likely your computer is infected with viruses. In this case, it is necessary to treat it, and then delete the registry entry by the link specified in the figure or change its value to zero. After that, the offline mode will be turned off, and the sites will be available again.

Problems with the offline mode arise due to the fact that it is designed to view pages offline. And its viruses and malware include.

Possible mistakes

If one of the windows appears with an error while working on the electronic circuit:

"Mistake! CAPICOM library could not be loaded, possibly due to low permissions on this local machine ”.

“CAPICOM not installed”

“On your computer there are no or incorrectly configured tools for working with digital signatures. Contact your certificate and CPS provider. ”

“The object cannot be created by the object programming server.”

“Your browser does not have permissions to use ActiveX objects.”

then follow the steps below.

General properties

Initial configuration of Internet Explorer is done in "Service - Browser Properties".

In the first tab "General" You can customize the bookmarks bar, set which page will be the start page. Various information, such as cookies, is also deleted here. In accordance with the preferences of the user, you can customize the appearance using colors, fonts and design.

The name of this tab speaks for itself. It sets the level of security of the Internet connection. Moreover, you can distinguish between this level of dangerous and safe sites. The higher the level of protection, the more additional functions can be disabled.

How to set up Internet Explorer

1. Make sure that you are using Internet Explorer. If your version of Internet Explorer is lower than 10, then you need to run the 32-bit version (to do this, open the folder C: Program Files (x86) Internet Explorer and run the iexplore.exe file).

If you have a Windows 10 operating system, make sure that you are not opening the Microsoft Edge browser, whose icon is very similar to Internet Explorer.

2. You must add the ETP addresses to the Trusted sites.

  • In Internet Explorer, “Service” - “Internet Options” (“Internet Options”), go to the “Security” tab,
  • select “Trusted sites” (“Trusted sites”), click the “Sites” button (“Sites”),
  • uncheck the box below “All servers in this zone require server verification (https :)” (not all ETPs work on a secure https: // connection),
  • in the line “Add the next node to the zone” enter the ETP address (via http and https),
  • insert the site address, after a double slash // put *. and site address. The entered address should take the form "http: //*",
  • Click the Add and OK buttons.

3. For the Trusted Sites zone, enable the use of Active-X elements.

  • in Internet Explorer, "Service" - "Internet Options", go to the "Security" tab, select "Trusted sites", click the "Other ..." button,
  • in the section "Active-X Elements and Connection Modules" for all parameters check "Enable".

5. In IE 9 and above, errors may occur that can be solved using the compatibility mode (Go to Browser Properties - Tools / compatibility view mode settings / add site address).

Note: these are general settings for all ETPs. On some sites it is necessary to install additional components (for example, the KRiptoPro EP browser browser plug-in) necessary for the site to work correctly.

Here access is configured in accordance with the privacy policy. If sites do not meet these requirements, you can prevent them from sending cookies. Here, a ban is placed on determining the location and blocking pop-up windows.

This tab is responsible for configuring additional security settings or resetting all settings. In this section, you do not need to change anything, the program automatically sets the necessary values. In the event of various errors in the browser, its settings are reset to the original.

Here we can set Internet Explorer as the default browser and manage add-ons, i.e. additional applications. From a new window, you can turn them off and on. Add-ins are removed from the standard wizard.

A very convenient feature of this section is family safety. Here we can adjust the work on the Internet for a specific account. For example, deny access to some sites or vice versa enter a list of allowed.

The list of certificates and publishers is immediately adjusted.

If you enable the auto-fill function, the browser will remember the entered lines and fill them when the initial characters match.

In principle, the settings for Internet Explorer are quite flexible, but if you wish, you can download additional programs that will expand the standard functions. For example, Google Toollbar (for searching through Google) and Addblock (for blocking ads).
